What does Buyer Fee Payable mean?

Modified on: March 1st, 2019

This appears on some business for sale listings. It means the member who created the listing expects to be paid a commission (a finder’s fee) by the buyer of the business. It also means the member who created the listing does not represent the owner of the business. In fact, the owner is probably represented by another broker and the member who created the listing is re-listing the other broker’s listing. This is a common practice in the business brokerage and investment banking industries.
