A finder's fee is a commission paid to someone for discovering a deal and bringing it to your attention. Finders fees are negotiated in advance and paid when deals close. They are usually paid for introducing a seller to a buyer, but they can also be paid for introducing a buyer to a seller.
There is a long tradition of paying finder's fees in the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) business.
